Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Why would I want smart devices in my home/business?

  • Manage and turn your devices on/off wherever you are
  • Control with Smart Assistants (Amazon Alexa, Google, & Apple Siri), allowing you to operate the devices with your voice
  • Automations (see below)

What automations can I do with smart devices?

Here are some example of what you are able to do*:

  • Alarm for kids: when the light turns green, then it’s time to get up
  • Set a light as a timer: when the light turns red, then the timer is up
  • Trash reminder: set the light at the door you leave from for work on trash day to blue, so when you leave to go to work you are reminded to take out the trash
  • Window open reminder: get a reminder if you leave home and a window is left open
  • Bathroom in the middle of the night: have your bathroom lights turn a deep red when you turn them on during sleeping hours, allowing you to get back to sleep quicker
  • Bathroom motion sensor: have lights in the bathroom automatically turn on when someone enters and turn off when they leave
  • Pretend you’re home: lights go on/off acting is if you are home when you are gone for a weekend or vacation, preventing intruders
  • Better counter light for cooking: knock on the counter to have the light directly above it increase in brightness
  • Sync with music and TV: with colored smart lights, you can often sync them to the beat of music and/or display coloring based on what is currently bring displayed on your TV, creating an immersive theater experience
  • Automation when you’re the last person to leave the house: Don’t worry about shutting any lights off, an automation can automatically shut all the lights off when you’re the last person to leave home
  • Wake up easily: Have the lights slowly fade on to your preferred wakeup time; you can even sync the lights with sunrise and sunset

The options of what you can do are endless. If you have a problem, we can find a solution.

*This can vary depending on your devices, the ecosystem (Apple, Google, or Amazon), and your smart phone operating system (Apple or Android).

Smart lights are so much more expensive than regular lights. Are they really worth the additional costs?

In my opinion, yes. Here are some of the benefits I’ve experienced:

  • Energy cost savings
  • Time savings
  • Layer of security
  • Control remotely
  • Mimic your presence if you’re away

Smart devices seem like such a headache. Is this something I really want to deal with?

In my experience, the most labor intensive part is the initial setup. After the initial setup is complete, the maintenance aspect is relatively easy.
